ABERTEX MEAT RAM – ABERTEX DUAL PURPOSE RAM

Sheep breeders who are looking for a combination of maternal and carcase traits favour our Abertex® sire. Derived from top performing UK and NZ stock and developed through our unique breeding programme, these hardy rams are capable of producing high quality finished lambs on hill/upland terrain and of maximizing the benefits of easy lambing for prime lamb production in a lowland farm environment. 

Abertex will suit your system if you: 

  • Want a combination of the best UK and New Zealand genetics to produce a ‘Texel type’ crossbred ewe 
  • Want the ability to lamb outdoors with selection for lambing ease and vigour 
  • Want to keep a hardy crossbred ewe that can be kept to perform at altitude 
  • Want a Texel equivalent for lowland farms to breed improved replacement ewe lambs, whilst maintaining the growth rate and carcase quality of the male lambs 

 Our Abertex rams stem from our Nucleus Flock in the Scottish Borders… 

Our nucleus flock in the Scottish Borders operates one of the largest performance recorded flocks in the UK with more than 40 traits recorded in the 1000 elite nucleus ewes. The breeding programme is growing rapidly with multiplier units recording a further 10,000 breeding ewes. The elite nucleus flock is farmed under commercial conditions, lambing outdoors so the ewes have to earn their place to stay within the flock at this level. 

We breed and record rams to perform in the environment where our customers need them to succeed. 

Ram Grade: Commercial, Select, Elite

All rams will be vaccinated against Bluetongue before the end of June, making sure your investment is protected and fertility won’t be impacted.

A member of the Technical Sales Team will be in touch with you to arrange the delivery of your ram/s to your farm. If you have any further questions regarding delivery please call 01970 828236.

Innovis will guarantee the performance of all rams sold at its official sales for the first mating season after purchase, provided that the owner can demonstrate that they have made reasonable efforts to ensure the health, welfare and security of the ram during that period.

Anny issues post sale must be raised prior to 1st February after the year of purchase and accompanied by appropriate evidence/supporting documentation in addition to a veterinary report where applicable. In the event that a ram is found to be defective, a replacement ram of equivalent genetic potential will be supplied. A credit note for the value of the ram may be issued against the buyers next purchase if the replacement is not available. No cash refunds are given.
