INNOVIS ABERFIELD® MATERNAL RAMS
ABERFIELD RAMS ARE WELL-BODIED, EFFICIENT AND HIGH QUALITY.
Aberfields have the ability to produce better conformed crossbred lambs as they are selected for maternal attributes as well as growth and muscling. An Aberfield ram will produce a crossbred ewe with a lambing percentage of 180% from a relatively low–cost base compared to traditional crossbreds. Our Aberfield maternal sires are bred off grass under commercial conditions at 1000ft and have a mating capacity of 80-100 ewes each.
Aberfield will suit your system if you:
- Want to lamb earlier in the spring
- Have grass available in the autumn for flushing
- Want to reduce production costs but maintain lamb output
- Want to take advantage of assistance in marketing crossbred females
Our Aberfield rams stem from our Nucleus Flock in the Scottish Borders…
Our nucleus flock in the Scottish Borders operates one of the largest performance recorded flocks in the UK with more than 40 traits recorded in the 1,500 elite nucleus ewes. The breeding programme is growing rapidly with multiplier units recording a further 11,000 breeding ewes. The elite nucleus flock is farmed under commercial conditions, lambing outdoors so the ewes have to earn their place to stay within the flock at this level.
We breed and record rams to perform in the environment where our customers need them to succeed.
