ABERBLACK RAMS ARE FAST GROWING, WELL CONFORMED MEAT SIRES

Aberblack will suit your system if you: 

  • Want a Suffolk based ram that has been bred off forage 
  • Want to finish lambs quickly off grass 
  • Want to produce top quality, premium carcases while reducing the number of days to slaughter 
  • Want to maximise carcase quality without compromising lambing ease 
  • Want a dark headed crossing sire with superior meat genetics 
  • Want a robust ram that will last 

ABERBLACK IS AN EFFICIENT AND EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE MEAT SIRE 

Aberblack rams are derived from the highest performing British and New Zealand Suffolk genetics with the introgression of beneficial carcase traits from three other meat breeds. As a robust meat sire, Aberblack rams are bred off grass under commercial conditions and selected for very fast growth rates in lambs. Aberblack sired lambs yield high levels of lean meat and achieve premium slaughter grades, bred from rams that have the ability to cover 80-100 ewes in a season without melting away.

The Aberblack has been developed from specific lines at the Huish and Bentley Flocks, focusing on sheep that can perform off forage. With extensive use of performance recording and introgression of specific traits from other breeds, the Aberblack breeding programme is focused on producing rams that can sire very fast–growing carcase lambs, minimising days on farm to hit premium prices.

Ram Grade: Commercial, Select, Elite

All rams will be vaccinated against Bluetongue before the end of June, making sure your investment is protected and fertility won’t be impacted.

Innovis will guarantee the performance of all rams sold at its official sales for the first mating season after purchase, provided that the owner can demonstrate that they have made reasonable efforts to ensure the health, welfare and security of the ram during that period.

Anny issues post sale must be raised prior to 1st February after the year of purchase and accompanied by appropriate evidence/supporting documentation in addition to a veterinary report where applicable. In the event that a ram is found to be defective, a replacement ram of equivalent genetic potential will be supplied. A credit note for the value of the ram may be issued against the buyers next purchase if the replacement is not available. No cash refunds are given.
