Important Bluetongue Update – How does BTV effect the Innovis sales?

2025

As it stands on 3rd July 2025, England is within a BTV restriction zone with hard borders into Wales and Scotland, meaning that no sheep can cross into Wales or Scotland without a clear pre-movement test. With this in mind, Innovis has been strategically moving rams in order to supply all planned auction and on-farm sales without too much disruption. Full information regarding each sale can be found below:

Aberystwyth 1 & 2, Coldrochie Farm – No Change

Over the last few months, Innovis has been moving rams into Wales and Scotland ready to supply the Welsh and Scottish sales. This means customers can purchase freely at these sales and return the rams to farms across the UK without the need of pre movement testing.

Exeter and Old Hall Farm

The above sales will continue with no changes and English customers will be able to purchase freely from the sale. If you are a customer from Wales or Scotland and wish to purchase from one of the two sales listed above, please get in touch with a member of the team and we will make the necessary arrangements.

Okle Clifford Farm part of Hartpury University and College

Rams for this sale have been strategically placed with our breeding partners and will be moved directly to Okle Clifford Farm a week before the sale. Customers from England will be able to purchase freely from the sale.

If Welsh customers purchase at the sale, our consultant vet, Peers Davies will be present to pre-movement test the rams at our cost and they will be held on a breeding partner farm until clear to move.

Lockerbie Mart (previously Carlisle)

Due to all rams for the sale being at our growing unit in the Scottish Borders, we have made the decision to move the sale from Carlisle to Lockerbie. This allows both Scottish and English customers to purchase freely from the sale without the need of pre movement testing.

If you have any further questions, get in touch or feel free to contact your local technical sales advisor directly.
