The NSP/NISP Semen Archive year 4 (2007/2008)

The Worlds Largest Ram Semen Archive Wants your Rams

A UK project highly commended in the first ever UK National Action Plan on Farm Animal Genetic Resorces (FAnGR)

About the Archive

The 3 leading providers of Artificial Insemination in the UK (Innovis Edinburgh, Innovis Malvern and Artificial Insemination Services NI Ltd) together comprise ARK Consortium Ltd - the service provider for the NSP/NISP Semen Archive.

The Semen Archive has been introduced to store genetic material from scrapie susceptible rams that, over time, will be bred out of the National Flock as part of the National Scrapie Plan for Great Britain (NSP-GB) and the Northern Ireland Scrapie Plan (NSP-NI).

Semen is being collected from native British breeds and SAMB is working with Breed Societies and others to identify and nominate donor rams.
