Over 2,000 ewes artificially inseminated in one week

In one week in October 2009, Innovis artificially inseminated more than 2,000 ewes as part of the nextstep forward in the Sheep Ireland breeding programme. A Central Progeny Test (or CPT for short) programme has been set up for testing rams. The aim of the CPT IS to compare rams for similar traits across all breeds and, thereby, identify the best genetics available regardless of breed.

New contract offers a sustainable future for Aberdale hill producers

Hill producers throughout Wales have welcomed the new contract to produce Aberdale crossbred ewes in 2010. The contract, which is part of the commercial cross-breeding programme developed by the Aberystwyth –based Innovis, offers producers guaranteed prices for Aberdale ewe lambs one year in advance.

On-farm faecal egg counting – research highlights benefit for farmers

Results from new EU-funded research show that, with the right equipment and guidance, farmers can accurately carry out faecal egg counts, giving them a better understanding of the roundworm problems on their farm and helping them to target treatment when it is needed. The reduced reliance on anthelmintics should also help delay wormer resistance on their properties.
