Cornish flock future proofing:

Innovis open day at South Treviddo Farm, Horningtops, Liskeard PL14 3QB Monday 26 June, 4.00pm

Sheep producers will be able to find out more about how Campbell Hill is future proofing his 600 ewe New Zealand Romney flock when he hosts an Innovis open day at South Treviddo Farm.

Faster finishing rates off milk and grass with improved carcase length are amongst Campbell’s priorities, and whilst he says his current flock comprises very easy care sheep, he felt there was potential for improvement.

Having heard that the Aberfield from Innovis, crossed to the Romney had the potential to help to achieve his objectives, he decided to invest.

Whilst still in the early stages in to the breeding programme, he will be discussing how he has a gut feeling that the Aberfield Romney will deliver - a ewe with more milk, slightly more prolific and marginally bigger framed whilst helping to maintain the same stocking rate.

There will also be an opportunity to find out more about the Primera terminal sire, how the genetics replaced the flock’s Continental terminal sires and delivered an immediate up lift in performance efficiency.
