Cattle producers can now appeal against the refusal of a cattle passport by using DNA testing.
If producers have been refused a cattle passport because the application was late, they can ask the BCMS for a review of the decision. They may do a DNA test after a written appeal is unsuccessful or opt for a DNA test straightaway.
The cost of the DNA tests are only £20 + VAT per sample. Most producers will only have to test 1 calf and 1 dam.
